Command Task-4 — See-saw Plank — How I’d Brief

SSB Command Task and Progressive Group Task briefing illustration — a candidate briefing two subordinates beside a painted outdoor obstacle.

A loose plank on a drum fulcrum. GTO wants to see if you brief balance before heroics.

Command Task · You + 2 subordinates · ~7 minutes

Obstacle

A metal drum (blue — people can touch, material/load cannot rest). A loose long plank. Red pits on both ends if the plank slams. Finish is the far white.

Colour reminders

  • Drum blue.
  • Pits red.
  • Far slab white.

Helping material & load

  • The see-saw plank itself
  • Rope
  • Tolvi as chock

Load: Small box

What the GTO is waiting for

If you do not mention counterweight in the brief, your subordinates will dump the far end into red.

60-second speak clock

Start the clock and brief out loud (or on paper). Do not type here.

Idle

A complete brief (for comparison)

Steal the structure — aim, resources, sequence, roles, colour, fallback — not these exact words on the ground.

  1. Aim: controlled see-saw; nobody and no box in the pits.
  2. Resources: A is my counterweight on the near end until I am committed; B chocks with tolvi on white; rope as a stop.
  3. Sequence: I walk only after A is on; box after I am on the far white; then A walks as B shifts chock.
  4. Roles: I first walker, A weight, B chock/rope.
  5. Fallback: if it slams, reset — no blame line. I under-briefed the weight.
