PGT-4 — Shallow Water Finish — How I’d Brief

SSB Command Task and Progressive Group Task briefing illustration — a candidate briefing two subordinates beside a painted outdoor obstacle.

Last PGT: shallow water marked red for material, finish jetty is white, load is a drum that floats badly.

PGT · Full group. This is the last PGT — collect material after, HGT is next. · ~10 minutes

Obstacle

A shallow water strip (treat as red for helping material and load). People may wade if the GTO painted the water blue — here the water is red. Finish is a white jetty 9 feet away. Drum load must not “float across” as a cheat if it would touch red water.

Colour reminders

  • Treat the water as red for planks, rope bundles and the drum.
  • Jetty is white.
  • If a candidate wades, that is a rule break in this painted layout.

Helping material & load

  • Both planks
  • Rope
  • Ballie
  • Tolvi

Load: Closed drum (awkward, rolls)

What the GTO is waiting for

Brief a dry crossing. Do not invent a boat.

Idle

A complete brief (for comparison)

Steal the structure — aim, resources, sequence, roles, colour, fallback — not these exact words on the ground.

  1. Aim: dry jetty for all + drum; nothing in the red water.
  2. Resources: cantilever from the bank using ballie as a fulcrum on white only; long plank as the beam; rope guys to stop roll.
  3. Sequence: build the cantilever, send one person, receive plank on jetty, convert to a two-support bridge, then drum.
  4. Roles: two on fulcrum, two guys, two drum, one caller for “drum not rolling off”.
  5. Fallback: if cantilever dips, add the short plank as a sister beam — still not in water.
