About the Situation Reaction Test

The SRT is a booklet of 60 short, real-life situations printed simultaneously on a single sheet. You have 30 minutes total — roughly 30 seconds per situation — to write the first practical action you would take. Assessors look for spontaneity, common sense, social responsibility and the 15 Officer Like Qualities.

⏱️ Timing

30 minutes for 60 situations. Time-management and decisiveness are part of the test.

🎯 What it measures

Practical intelligence, social adaptability, sense of responsibility, courage, initiative and speed of decision.

✅ Do

Write 1–2 short, action-first sentences. Use resources at hand. Take ownership before escalating to authority.

❌ Don't

Skip "ideal-citizen" clichés like "I'll call the police". Don't write essays. Don't leave situations blank — write something practical.

Sample Situation & Sample Response

Situation: While returning from college late at night, he sees a small fire spreading from a paper-cart parked beside a shut shop. There is no one in sight.

Response: "He used a nearby water bucket to douse the flames, called the fire helpline to be safe, and woke up the shop's night-watchman so the area could be cleared."

Notice how the response leads with the candidate's own action, uses what's available, and only then involves outside help.
