The Monsoon and the Indian Economy — SSB Lecturette Speech Outline

SSB Lecturette practice illustration — candidate delivering a 3-minute speech at a lectern on the GTO ground to a semicircle of fellow candidates.

Agriculture, inflation and a weather system. Use this outline under a 3-minute prep clock, then speak without reading.

Category: india · Format: 3 min prep + 3 min speech

Opening hook (~40 seconds)

In India the budget is written in Parliament, but a large part of it is still rewritten in the sky in June.

Body — three points (~90 seconds)

  1. A good monsoon eases food inflation and rural demand. A bad one shows up in the kitchen first.
  2. Irrigation and forecasts reduce the gamble; they do not delete it.
  3. Climate change makes the monsoon less polite — more flood, more dry spell, same nation to feed.

Closing line (~50 seconds)

Respect the monsoon as infrastructure, not folklore.

What to avoid

One agriculture fact you know beats a fake rainfall percentage.

Practise with the hub timer and the Lecturette GTO guide (3-3-3 structure, body language, chit selection).
