Women’s Safety in Indian Cities — SSB Lecturette Speech Outline

Streets, transport and a culture of respect. Use this outline under a 3-minute prep clock, then speak without reading.
Opening hook (~40 seconds)
A city is not modern if a woman cannot return from work after dark without calculating risk at every crossing.
Body — three points (~90 seconds)
- Lighting, last-mile transport, CCTV and responsive policing are the hardware of safety.
- The software is attitude: bystanders, family honour myths, and how boys are taught to treat girls.
- Laws exist; conviction and social shame for the offender must catch up with the FIR.
Closing line (~50 seconds)
Safety is not a women’s issue — it is a city’s character.
What to avoid
Be respectful. No jokes. No blaming victims.
Practise with the hub timer and the Lecturette GTO guide (3-3-3 structure, body language, chit selection).
